CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing
As we go through life, there are
many different things that can leave our skin less than perfect. Problems can range
from wrinkles due to sun exposure and aging, acne and chicken pox scars in childhood,
or damage from smoking. We can now remove surface imperfections with more precision
using the UltraPulse 5000C Aesthetic Laser.
This state-of-the-art laser can penetrate
the skin at a controlled depth and vaporize the damaged upper layers of skin in specific
areas. This allows the surgeon to tailor the depth of the laser to the patient's
specific needs - control which is impossible with alternative methods. The biggest
advantage of the laser is that in most cases it causes less bleeding and bruising,
little or no discomfort, and less swelling afterward for the vast majority of patients.
Additionally, the procedure is performed on an outpatient basis in our fully accredited
surgical facility, eliminating the costs and need for hospitalization.
The surgery generally takes 30 minutes
to 1 1/2 hours, depending on the number of areas to be treated. For the first few
days after the procedure your skin will be rebuilding itself from the bottom up,
so it will be red, then pink postoperatively. During this time, you will have a special
dressing on your skin that will help you heal comfortably and safely. When the dressing
is removed, your skin will be pink, but it can be easily concealed with makeup after
10-14 days. You will also need to protect your skin from the sun in the months following
the surgery. As time goes by, you will be less and less pink and your skin will be
softer and smoother than ever before.
